Service and Security for Municipal Networks

Local authorities face conflicting pressures, to cut costs, and improve services.
Effective communications offer the possibility to address both of these opportunities, but are becoming increasingly expensive in their own right. Private networks have historically been prohibitively expensive to install and upgrade and in a constantly evolving technology landscape, making the right investment decision can be difficult.

The Airborne Proposition

Airborne addresses both of these pressures by providing a low cost private network which can carry high bandwidth data to any Wi-Fi or WiMax enabled device, as well as additional benefits as follows:
  • Real time, cost-free access via control rooms, allowing traffic monitoring and other functions.
  • Additional bandwidth to carry other traffic to users anywhere in an LA area through WiFi or WiMax enabled devices, offering services to schools, emergency services, local businesses, bus companies etc.
  • Full QOS management of traffic over the Mesh
  • Reduced cost of mobile phone usage in LA areas
  • No site acquisition needed as equipment is street furniture installable, using existing power supply.
  • Mesh nodes with any combination of WiFi or, uniquely, WiMax air interface. Cards are swappable in situ and remote configurable, which means a future proof mesh.
  • Increased availability of bandwidth means evidence-quality video streams.
  • Wi-Fi access to video streams for police within the mesh coverage zone at no-cost
  • Wi-Fi access for the police to securely VPN back to their own network within the mesh coverage zone at no-cost
  • Ability for local authority to allow emergency services and other field workers to securely access the council network within the mesh coverage zone, or use the mesh to access emergency services own networks
